STATE DIVERSITY CHAMPION
The Department of Administration has identified the hiring of minorities as one of its strategic goals for the Executive Branch of Rhode Island State Government. In March 2016, the ODEO introduced a monthly “Diversity Champion” certificate program to recognize the agency that has met the established criteria with regard to their new hires.
Criteria for selection of “Diversity Champion” for the month:
- Partners with the ODEO/Human Resources Outreach and Diversity Office
to obtain advice and guidance on diversity/inclusion related matters
and/or to develop expanded outreach plans that include the use of
minority media for advertising vacancies;
- Interviews a diverse pool of candidates;
- Fills the highest number of positions with minorities; and,
- Hires the largest percentage of minority candidates.
